I am very concerned.
In light of the most recent happening in my life - My GCE 'O' Level Combined Humanities 2091/01 (to put it simply, Social Studies), I have some thoughts and concerns that I feel an undying need to express and hopefully inspire the masses and lastly leave a few things for you to ponder about.
SEAB- Singapore Examination Assessment Board. WHAT ON EARTH WERE THEY THINKING HUH?!?! By setting close-to-irrelevant topics to cheat the feelings of the miserable candidates who undeniably have the undying passion and yearning to flaunt and impress the examiners their knowledge of Sustaining Economic Development in the 21st Century. Instead of satisfying such people, the SEAB, being totally retarded and all, PURPOSELY did not set such a topic. Instead, they tested the following: 2. Merger and Separation. 3. Conflict in Northern Ireland. 4. Welfare State in Britain. You see, this is indeed a cause for concern because firstly, the government clearly aims to educate its students into knowledgable, creative and innovative citizens, who will eventually be the next government, which will undoubtly adopt the 5 principles of Good Governance - one which is FORWARD LOOKING. So therefore, excuse me SEAB? How would you want to train the current generation to be more Forward Looking if you never want to test it for a National Examination? That chapter on Sustaining Economic Development is so critical. Why do you still die die insist on testing such chapters to "make us aware of our mistakes IN THE PAST and other country's mistakes IN THE PAST so that it teaches us not to repeat simliar mistakes"? Which is more important? Learning our mistakes, or taking A STEP FORWARD and gain insights on our future and current economic and social development programmes?! A STEP FORWARD people! How do you want to train us into forward-looking, vision-making people if you don't emphasize its importance during a National Examination?! While those SEAB geniuses want to insult our intelligence further and indirectly hampering Singapore's future growth because they refuse to test us on Sustaining Economic Development, we must therefore voice this out. This is clearly wrong. Only 1 out of the 3 topics given were about LOCAL issues. To make things worse, it was a local issue 40 years ago. Like, hello?! Right now the government is not wailing and sobbing about breaking away from Malaysia, the government is not thinking of entrepot trade either. The government is in fact focussing on KBE. KBE PEOPLE! That is exactly what is driving our economy now. That is the vision our government painted for us. That is why Singapore has been flourishing, at a faster rate than any of our ASEAN countries nearby. That, my friends, is ensuring our parents a job!! Without the KBE, our lovely Singapore would not be as colourful as it is now. So then again, why is SEAB still asking about Merger and Separation when clearly we have realised that the KBE chapter is of much greater importance? All the more it ought to be tested so that students are aware of its importance and impact and everything to it, so that one day, we too can follow PAP's example and continue leading Singapore to infinity and beyond. After memorising and reading my carefully written notes on the KBE, and after studying it with much patience much like reading the bible, I was devasted that it wasn't tested.
Another pressing matter is the ambiguity of the part b question to Merger and Separation question. WRONG OR NOT WRONG?! Can't you use a better word like, successful, beneficial, ban or boon, etc etc. You might as well ask if Separation was NOT CORRECT or not. Please, SEAB needs to be a little more creative than this.
Bloody hell, someone disrupted my train of thought and I don't feel like continuing anymore. I will update soon.
